Happy Birthday Hibiscus

Why yes, that is me using my favorite Sheena stamp set of ever...again (Wild Rose & Hibiscus from her Floral Fantasy range).

I can't get enough of this gorgeous, enormous hibiscus. I colored the blossom and leaf with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers from Crafter's Companion. I attempted a "no line" effect, not too shabby, if I do say so myself.

I added some texture to the card base with a Sheena Individual EZMount stamp, this one is Simply Scripty.

The sentiment is a new favorite, it is from the set a that comes with the latest issue of Crafter's Inspiration Magazine

The faux wood background piece started off as plain cream cardstock. I added score marks every quarter inch using the Big Score and swiped several colors of Memento Dye inks directly to the paper. I just swiped from one short edge all the way down, flipped and swiped again. I did this with each color until I thought it looked like old planks. I used a mixture of warm browns, greens and grays.

Happy Birthday, Wise Owl

I had this piece of "smooshed" background, that I'd made with Spectrum Aqua Markers from Crafter's Companion, sitting on my desk next to The Wise Owl from Sheena Douglass' line of individual EZMount stamps. I wondered what would happen if I stamped the owl onto my colorful background and lifted the color from the image, leaving the pretty background around it.

It takes a bit of work and time, but I love the result. I added color to my owl friend, along with a sentiment from the latest http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Crafters-Inspiration--Issue-6-Spring-Edition_p_3555.html Issue.

I can't wait to try this with some of my favorite Sheena Douglass florals.

Spectrum Aquas: orchid, purple, marine, aquamarine, gold, tan, charcoal, black

Just For You

Kinda not loving this, though--wish I'd done less to the background...or less to the typewriter. I will revisit this and get back to you. ;)

supplies:

Watercolor Rainbow

I can't put down the Spectrum Aquas from Crafter's Companion. And I won't!

I used one of the new Individual EZMount Stamps from Sheena Douglas, this one is Silhouette Grass. I colored directly onto the stamp with various colors and added water with a paint brush after I'd stamped onto watercolor cardstock. I added the rainbow freehand, also with a paint brush.

Finally, I added a Die'sire Beautiful Butterfly that I also colored with Spectrum Aquas and the sentiment. Boom, super easy...lots of drying time in between, though.

Thinking of You

I'm still digging my Spectrum Aquas from Crafter's Companion. I don't even care that this dragonfly got messy, the edges and the bleeds are totally my thing right now.

I'd Pick You Twice

Can you OVER-use a stamp set? Sometimes, I make one card with a set and i'm ready to purge it--as if I've gotten the idea that I had for it out of my system and I'm done. But this set by Sheena Douglass (Wild Rose & Hibiscus from her Floral Fantasy collection) just keeps calling my name.

I stamped the hibiscus images in a pale, water-based ink and colored them in with the new Spectrum Aqua Markers from Crafter's Companion. I put lots of juicy color onto the paper and then touched the centers with a wet paintbrush. I loved the look, and in hindsight, wish I'd left them as is.

But I went on and stamped over the painted flowers and leaves with the outline images again, inking the stamps with the deepest color I'd used to color in the original image. I stamped the blooms over the original image, but I went a little nuts with the leaves.

I added an appropriate sentiment and added my panel to a simple kraft card base.

Spectrum Aqua Butterflies

I am so happy with how these butterflies turned out. I used Flying Colors from Sheena Douglass' A Little Bit Scenic line of stamps and sentiments from Bebunni Celebration

I stamped the butterflies with Ranger Antique Linen Distress and painted the images in a "no-line" style with Spectrum Aquas

top butterfly: SA spice, marigold, chestnut
bottom butterfly: SA peacock blue, aquamarine, amber, sepia

Friendship

The butterfly panel here is the first time I played with the Spectrum Aquas. These markers are a dream, they are juicy and blendy and the colors are just wonderful!

Violet Best Wishes

nope, i said "violet best wishes"!

more colored pencils on vellum--this time i did blend with the odorless mineral spirits and i don't love it. the colors went sort of streaky, but it's a look. this is one of my favorite cards, ever. i just love this violet stamp set from sheena douglass' floral fantasy range.

see what i used to make this card below:

Dreams Are Forever

I colored these 3 babies with my Spectrum Noir Blendable Pencils. I used only the Essentials set for this project, the paper stumps and blending solution; as well as the King For A Day stamp set and Angelica and Adam 6x6 girl paper pad.

I've added a few photos of my quick and messy process. When blended with the odorless mineral spirits, you don't have to be tidy or perfect, which is great for me with the kids home for the summer.

My supplies: stamped images from Sheena Douglass A Little Bit Sketchy King for a Day set, Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils-Essentials, Spectrum Noir Blending Stumps, Spectrum Noir Blending Solution

I colored the branch with 089 and 091.

I added color to the bird bodies with 112, 117 & 119.

I colored feet, beaks and eye rings with 015 and 022.

I added color to heads and chests with 071 and 067.

I used 001 and 067 to add some sky around the trio.

Finally, I added 120 to the deepest shadows.

I blended my coloring with paper stumps and blending solution.

To finish off the card, I did some simple die-cutting and added some shimmer to the background and the patterned paper

If Nothing Ever Changed...

Sheena Douglass's newest A Little Bit Sketchy stamps are these amazing, enormous butterflies that look beautiful stamped in colors OR stamped and colored in with your Spectrum Noir markers.

For this card, I stamped the butterfly and sentiment from The Butterfly Effect set in Memento Paris Dusk dye ink; I colored the butterfly with GBs, TNs & EBs.

I stamped one of the large hibiscus images from Sheena's Floral Fantasy Wild Rose & Hibiscus set in Memento Dandelion dye ink onto yellow cardstock to create some texture for the background. I finished off the butterfly with some Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Sparkle, but I carefully applied it with a paint brush to get maximum shimmer.

I think this sentiment is a good reminder for when life gets all change-y when you aren't expecting it.

Sent With Love

Pencils used: 001, 034, 061, 062, 078, 080, 083, 112, 113, 115

I never get tired of the Falling Feathers set from Sheena Douglass's A Little Bit Sketchy range. For this card, I stamped a few of the smaller feathers onto my card base. I also stamped the largest feather onto my main panel and colored it in with the new Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils. I used a Spectrum Noir Blender to blend; I have one that is dedicated to this purpose. My sentiment is from Sentimentals Memories are Made set.

I've used an image from Henna Mango and a sentiment from Tiger Tiger. I stamped my image 3 times with Memento Rich Cocoa dye ink and colored them with a combination of Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers & Blendable Colored Pencils and cut them out and popped them up to create dimension. I also added some shimmer and glossy accents.

I stamped a sentiment from the Sentimentals Memories are Made set and added the colored panel to a black notecard.

    Stamping on Embossing Folders

Today I have a video showing how I stamp on embossing folders before embossing to create...well, magic.
I've used one of Sheena Douglass's newest embossing folders for Crafter's Companion, this one is Leafy Corner; as well as a Sheena Douglass stamp set--Ageing Beautifully (I have to stop myself from using this set on all of the things). I've used Memento Luxe in Gray Flannel. But you can use dye ink as well because the embossing folder is non-porous, allowing dye inks to stay wet. The sentiment is from Everyday Sentimentals, the Imagine set.

(I apologize for the sound in the voice clip, I need to figure out what's broken)

New Embossing Folders by Sheena Douglass for Crafter's Companion

There are 8 new embossing folder designs available at Crafter's Companion. They have been designed by Sheena Douglass and coordinate with some of her popular stamp sets.

I've used Leafy Corner along with some of my favorite Sheena Douglass stamp sets, Silhouette Wildflowers and Ageing Beautifully, to create my cards. I've added sentiments from the Sentimentals Friends and Family set. I've used Memento Luxe pigment inks, also available in the Crafter's Companion store.
