I discovered something fabulous recently! I have the tags trio from Spellbinders as well as labels 1(out of stock at All That Scraps, but worth waiting for, Christine offers the best domestic shipping on the net), and I have an awesome tag punch by Marvy(the merchandise tag); well, I've figured out a way to make them do double duty and even customize them to the size I need. Are you intrigued? Good, look at these:

Grab some scraps and your dies and punches and play along! Here I have used 2 colors of scrap paper (thanks, Leslie Hanna, Crooked Stamper, for that purple right there.) and two sizes of the labels 1 Nestabilities.

Cut your shape out. I never cut the whole die out when using this technique, but you could, in theory, use 1 cutout and get two shapes, so either way you're winning.

This next step is slightly tricky; line up the roundish parts of one end of the cutout with the opposite end of the die. I use low tack painter's tape to hold it where I want it and cut.

Repeat with your layering color if you want, et voila!

I used some paper from the Making Memories Vintage Findings Mat Pad and some that I received in a blog candy (again, Leslie Hanna roxors), PTI kraft (of course) for my base, and of course, my labels 1-1/3 (haha) for my sentiment.

Here's a sample of the largest of the tags trio customized to fit the PTI mixed messages birthday sentiment (which is so tiny, omg!). NO worries though, use this same technique and create a nifty two ended tag and use your prettiest (Making Memories) brads in those holes.

Here are two pictures of that Marvy super mega ultra (I don't know, it's the purple one) tag punch being modified into a label shape. I love how this turns out; and you can make it any size you want it. You can also cut off part of the tagged end and use this same idea and make a rounded corner rectangle.

(I should've hired a hand model without hang nails, but this one came cheap.)

Thanks for stickin' with me through my first real tutorial! If you have any questions, please comment and I will do my best to answer you.
