A Week of Gratitude: Day 3 & OLW 22 (i think, is that right?)

Susan clued me in on her One-Layer Wednesday challenge for this week, and it fits in with our week's theme--thank a mother.  My card is for my mother-in-law.

Mothers-in-law are so hard, at least mine was. When she was my neighbor it was so unpleasant (maybe that was just me?). Then a hurricane came and we moved and now I look forward to her phone calls each Sunday. Funny how that works, huh?

My mother-in-law was just here recently for a visit, along with my sister-in-law. She bought the kids some school clothes while she was here, so a thank you card is in order. But I also want to thank her, just for visiting and let her know that I'm glad she's my MIL.

She has macular degeneration, so when I make a card for her I take that into consideration. She can still see, but she can see high-contrast much easier, so one-layer cards are perfect. I added a bit of scoring with my scor-pal for texture. I kind of love how this turned out, even if the sentiment is a scosh crooked.

stamps: le jardin bontanique by SU, thankful for you by inkadinkado
card stock: PTI rustic white
ink: PTI dark chocolate
tools: scor-pal and a fiskars stylus

It's pretty funny to me that you and Susan are doing this "challenge" together. I have a folder of cardmaking favorite blogs that I follow and you two are the top two spots!

That's a great tree stamp. Now, see...if you hadn't mentioned that the sentiment was crooked, I probably wouldn't have noticed. Love the pink background. Thanks for sharing!

Nice of you to consider the MD with the card. I still have family members who write real small on stuff for me...even after 20 years! lol

Very pretty card! I love the score lines and how they "root"/anchor the tree :-)

Love the simplicity of this card. The score lines give it that little extra boost, without overdoing it. Thank you for sharing.

Wonderful CAS card, Mary! I can't stamp a straight sentiment for the life of me! I know what you mean about Mother-in-laws. . .I could have never lived near mine!

A lovely card! Don't be too hard on yourself. I find it hard to live next door to my MIL at times.

Very nice card! I love that tree stamp and sentiment. Who made these stamps? I had a wonderful mother-in-law who was like a second mother to me. I miss her very much.

Ooo...smart call on the contrast issue! Something to keep in mind with the older relations too...this would also be perfect for a masculine card...great job!
