The One Where I Don't Mention Names

Yesterday was a doozy for some of my friends. I'm speaking, of course, about a certain direct sales company's new IDA. Now, doesn't the "I" in IDA stand for "independent".

I think it stinks stinks stinks; those new rules are preposterous to me. Just another reason I won't be buying their products again or mentioning them on MY BLOG.

Hello: America.

That damn thing even mentions EMAIL...I'll be damned if a company is gonna tell me what to say in my own damned emails, on my own Facebook page or my personal Twitter account.

I feel for the women who are conflicted by this new agreement, who have to choose between extra money for their families in this crappy economy and what they believe is right and good.

This doesn't sound right. They don't have the right to do that. I don't see how it is legal for anyone to tell you what you can say in your private or public conversations. If what you say is true (ie. you're not just making shit up) then it's only fair to say it.

There are many companies that try to regulate what their employees say in public going as far as putting it in the contract they sign and using it as a reason for dismissal. I won't mention names because I don't want my friend who told me to lose his job. It really scares me that anyone is allowed to do that.

Very well put! It is harder for some of us than others to make a decision. It comes down to this though - is the 20% discount worth giving up your creative freedom for? I know there is more involved than that - friendships and support from fellow demos is invaluable - but .... ~chris

Another soon to be former hobby demo here! even with their "clarifications" this afternoon, I am out...too many restrictions, too many bad vibes...just not right!

Very well said! I was visiting with a friend that is an Angel Company demo last night after reading some of the SU blogs.... we were both so saddened for all of you that now must choose. I am not a demo anyplace, but will choose NOT to purchase another product from SU, knowing this.

Thanks for your support. I am still pondering my options. I would not miss the discount as much as I'd be pained over disappointing my customers. Still wavering, and hoping for some softening of the rules before the end of the month.
